Chyntuck shuffles back onto the stage. Her hair is covered in a kerchief; she's carrying a vacuum cleaner in one hand and a bucket and mop in the other. "Sorry, guys," she mumbles. "Still cleaning up the house after Chyntuquita's birthday party."

A continuous stream of "why for the love of all that his holy did I do this" and "never again" can be heard as she places her impedimenta on the floor, careful not to spill the mopping water. She begins to dig into the pockets of her apron for week 3 nominations.

A sudden commotion backstage (no doubt one of the sithly types that abound this year) causes her to jump in fright. By the time she recovers, the slip of paper is floating in the bucket. She stares at it in dismay as it sinks into the sludge.

"Oh well," she says with a deep sigh, "I guess I'll have to improvise."

Rules | Categories​

In contrast to the lavishly decorated stage and auditorium where Palpatine's gleaming, spotlit statue overlooks everything as Vader and Palpatine present the previous group of categories, the backstage area where various Sith and Imperial supporters are gathered, waiting for their parts in the festival proceedings, is plain and worn. The beige paint on the walls is so chipped and scuffed that the still-smoking scorch marks from a stray lightsaber blade don't stand out too much.

Kylo Ren swings his saber again, adding another fresh slash mark to the wall. "That's my grandfather out there! I should be presenting the categories with him!"

"He was my grandfather first!" Darth Caedus yells. "I should be out there!"

"You call yourselves Sith?" Darth Maul makes a disgusted sound. "Pathetic."

He ignites one-half of his saber as everyone's attention turns to him, and when everyone is looking at him, he ignites the other half. There's an awkward pause while the group waits for him to do or say something else, but he just stands there holding his ignited double-bladed saber.

Tarkin breaks the silence by saying that the Emperor knows what he's doing, and not to question his hosting arrangements, and the squabbling resumes.

Having had enough of the petty bickering, Reva rolls her eyes and pushes through the group to go sit in the audience so she can enjoy some of the ceremony at least. She finds an empty seat near Boba Fett and Fennec Shand, and asks if anyone's sitting there. They tell her no, go ahead, and she sinks into the plush purple velvet and listens to Palpatine introduce the next part of the Festival.

"This is Week 4, Fun Categories That Don’t Have a Catchy Group Name." His lip curls. "Fun. What about important things like power and the Dark Side?

The room is dimly lit by flickering strobes of Sithly lightning, and shadows gather around the stage. The audience should be in a state of fear and all-around negative emotion, but the piped-in music of the Emperor's favored Sith-inspired chamber music during the intermission between weeks has instead made them very, very sleepy.

Fennec is sleeping on Boba's shoulder and Reva has used the Force to make the seat in front of her into the other half of a fold-out bed. Noisy snores rise from a Threepio parked next to a Han and Leia, who are temporarily distracted from their argument by the spectacle. ("What setting is that and how long can it last?" Han mutters.)

Palpatine clears his throat but sees that half the audience has gone back to sleep. He raises his hands, and floats all the chairs in the room, several inches before dropping them in unison with a pronounced bang.

"Now for Week 5: Reviewer & Author categories!" he proclaims, throwing sparks at a few errant snoozers. The Darth Vader also on stage gives him a cranky "look" and cape-swirls his way several feet to the side. "This week we celebrate the authors, reviewers, and participants of these forums in their pursuit of Imperial glory... or whatever incriminating evidence you wish to put forward about the rest of these Rebel scum. The number of users you may select for each category is two unless otherwise specified."

"Mmh hmm?"

Palpatine wheels around, searching near the stage for the source of the all too familiar sound. It doesn't take long to spot the blue form of a ghostly Yoda moving towards the stage.

The hooded Sith smirks at his old enemy. "I must admit I am curious what business you could possibly have here."

"Oh, very popular the Favorites of FanFic Festival is with all of us." More luminescent Jedi appear surrounding them. "Wish to enliven the proceedings we did." Yoda's ears twitch merrily as he taps his gimer stick on the ground for emphasis.

"Do tell." The Emperor's patience is very obviously and quickly wearing thin with this situation.

"Come to challenge you I have."

"I rather think that any such challenges would be... immaterial," he responds with a glare of contempt.

The lights focus on Yoda and Palpatine, and the ghosts of the Jedi are doing a spot-on impression of a disco ball on the ceiling.

"You cannot be serious."

"Very serious. Also, a teensy bit on fire your cloak is." Refusing to take his eyes off the ghostly Jedi for such an obvious ruse, Palpatine stares Yoda down. Smoke curls up and he suddenly yelps and moves to stamp out the flames.

"FINE. We will have this dance off and I will annihilate you," the Sith snarls.

As the music changes and the BG-Threes croon "I want to put on my my my my my Bogan shoes", Yoda smiles like a well-fed Loth-cat and begins hopping to the beat.
