Hello Fanficers! Last year we tried a new format for the awards to recognize and celebrate the great fanfic written by our community, while also remaining fair for everyone and sensible for the people ‘running the show’. The Favorites of FanFic Festival was created and a great middle ground between the benefits and issues of awards in the past. Not to mention a ton of fun and many great works were recognized! So we are doing it again! It was one of our intentions with the creation of the Favorites of FanFic Festival to create a format easy for a small group of volunteers to run, and it's still our intention to eventually have volunteers run this. However we as mods have decided to run the festival again this year to iron out some kinks and include some elements (notably NSWFF recognition) we decided to trim down on for our pilot run. It will be much the same as last year, but with a few changes, so please read carefully. In the interest of keeping the festival run-time under two months, things are going to move quickly once the festival starts, so we advise preparing beforehand. Hope you join us in celebrating! Bri, Mav, and Mira How It Will Work Below is a list of categories. Starting on February 16th we will post one group of categories. You can either then post the story(s) that were your favorite for the categories given that week, or if you’d like to remain anonymous, you may PM us your stories and we will post a batch of them at the end of the week. The next week we will post the next group of categories, and so on until we reach the end. We’ll then make a master list of The Favorites of FanFic 2019 and it will remain stickied at the top of resource for the rest of 2020. The rules are going to be very simplified, hopefully making it easier for everyone. PLEASE read them and follow them, there aren't many. Little mistakes start adding up to a lot of work. Rules No submitting your own stories. Any funny business with socks will result in a ban. Stories must have been STARTED between January 1st, 2019 and December 31st, 2019. For NSWFF, we are going back TWO YEARS, so stories must have STARED between January 1st, 2018 and December 31st, 2019. Please note, this is different than past awards. Stories that were started before and continued in 2019 (or 2018 for NSWFF) are not eligible with one exception as noted in the category definitions. Right or wrong, how the story is prefixed is how you should submit it. If it has two prefixes, you may pick one. If it's just Saga, pick the one you think is the best. The interpretation of other categories is up to you. If you see a mistake in someone else's submitted stories (be it your story or someone else's) please just let it go unless you strongly feel it's a malicious work around the rules (e.g. you know for a fact it's a sock). It creates a lot of work when there are a bunch of tiny things that need to be changed when they usually aren't hurting anything. We'll chuck out any clear mistakes (e.g. posted in 2018, blatantly wrong category) when we make the master list. You may submit (up to) TWO STAR WARS stories per category and TWO NON-STAR WARS stories per applicable category. Most categories work for both SW and NSWFF, but there are a few dedicated to their respective subforms (in Character, Author, and Reviewer). When you post for the categories, please post the category, the story title, author, and a link to the story. You may post two stories under each category heading. Please also include if it’s NSWFF and the fandom, if so. Make-ups will run a little differently this year, so please note the changes. If you miss a week, there will be a specific week for make-ups posted at the END of the festival. During this week you may only submit stories for SEVEN categories that you missed during the duration of the festival. This is to prevent congestion and confusion as the categories are going to be moving more quickly this time around. If you know in advance that you are not going to have time to post your favorites, you are more than welcome to PM us with your selections before February 16 and we will be happy to post them with the PM submissions for the appropriate week. There will not be a list of eligible stories made, you gotta do it old school, but at least there is a search function! Tips to help you find eligible stories: If you click on "start date" that is at the top of the story boards (in the list that says "Title, Start Date, Replies, Views, Last Message") it will sort the stories by newest start date to oldest. Stories posted in 2019 go back to around page 10 as of January 22nd. For NSWFF, stories posted in 2018/2019 go back to around page 6. If you are looking at the boards sorted by last message (which is the default) stories posted in 2019 go back as far as page 14 as of January 22nd, but keep in mind there are stories that were not started in 2019 in that list. For NSWFF, stories posted in 2018/2019 go back to around page 8. You can also filter by prefix by clicking on the prefix you only want to see (Saga-PT, Saga-OT, Beyond, etc.). You can also search for specific authors in the search function. If you need any help with how to do any of these things, please contact us. Note: Please don't give commentary or ask questions in this thread. This thread is for posting the stories submissions only. There is a Favorites of Fanfic Festival Social & Questions Thread for asking questions, discussing the fics put forth, thanking people, etc. This is so this thread is just the stories for people to read until the master list is posted.
